Northern Michigan Rowing offers both Learn To Row and Learn To Scull classes throughout the season. Learn To Row sessions are taught in “sweep” style rowing shells (boats) where each rower has one oar. Learn To Scull classes are taught in “sculling” style rowing shells where each rower has two oars. Either type of class is a great introduction to the sport.

Community Potluck and Boat Dedication Ceremony
It’s a potluck!
NMRC is having a picnic! All rowers and their families (and any friends curious about the sport) are invited to a potluck at Solon Township Park on Sunday, July 31st, from 4:00-7:00pm. Please bring a dish to pass, your beverage of choice, and a chair. This is a great opportunity to get to know the members of NMRC and socialize with the neighbors of Solon Township. Our boats will be on display, our oar house will be open, and you are all welcome to show your friends and family around our location. Our very own, “Handy Randy,” will be cooking brats.
At 6:30pm, we will have a short ceremony officially renaming the Resolute 8+ in honor of Jack Robert Keyes. Jack was a fifth generation native of Traverse City and an avid watersport enthusiast. NMRC is honored to be renaming our 8+ after such a fine man. Please join us for this special event.
Please RSVP my sending an email to mihawley73@gmail.com. Members on iCrew can toggle ‘attending’ to RSVP for the event. We would like to have a rough count of how many brats we need to supply for the event. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Susan or Mindy.
