March 19, 2023 Newsletter

Hello NMRC!

Summer may seem a long way away (especially for those who won’t escape for Spring Break), but all of a sudden it will be time to launch. The NMRC Board has been busy planning for an exceptional and affordable 2023 season on Glen Lake and Lake Leelanau. Details for the 2023 season membership are available on our website at https://www.northernmichiganrowing.club/membership

NMRC Insurance:

In our continuing efforts to manage costs, we recently reviewed our insurance carriers. We had three policies including equipment, liability, and D&O insurance from three different companies. We explored different options and chose to move our insurance to one provider reducing our insurance costs by 30%. We were even able to add a medical policy to help cover costs if any members or staff get injured during our regular rowing and/or sponsored events.

New Member Programs:

In an effort to make rowing affordable and to support young adult rowers and rowing households, we have added two additional options located in iCrew.

Young Adult Membership- $250. For rowers ages 16-24, we have a reduced rate for membership which is half the cost of our regular membership.

Family Add-On Membership- $250. This option is for additional family members in the household who already have a full-paid membership.

Hardship Rate- Part of our mission is to make rowing accessible to all. If NMRC membership offerings are inaccessible to you due to financial, travel, or other unique circumstances, there is a form to fill out located in the membership section on our website.

The board will review hardship applications at our monthly board meetings. There are a limited number of reduced rates available each season. All hardship applications will be kept confidential.

2023 Feel the Run Fundraiser- $30,000 Goal

We have several ways to meet our fundraising goal of $30,000 this year. We appreciate the incoming donations! Last year we were able to exceed this goal with the help of every member and donor. This year we are asking every member to commit to getting $1000 in donations. It may sound like a lot of money to chase, but it is necessary to get the equipment we need to expand our rowing opportunities. This year we need to add to our fleet to fulfill the needs of the club and its members. Now it’s time to Feel the Run.

If you are in a financial position to support NMRC with a donation today, please click the button below. We thank you for considering this.
