Hello NMRC!
Check out the videos on Instagram and Facebook of NMRC’s first launch on Lake Leelanau this season! Thank you to Coach Joe and our coxes, Delaney and Aidan, and a few experienced rowers for participating in an early morning, thorough shakedown of the 4+. It’s ready to row and so are we!
iCrew ‘Paperwork’ - If you haven’t already filled out the waivers and forms on iCrew, do so now. Your profile also needs to be completed filling out all starred items. Pay close attention to the two sections, Rower Settings and Emergency Contacts at the bottom of the profile page. Unless all starred items are complete, iCrew blocks you from toggling into a row. If you need assistance with that process, contact Mindy at mindy@northernmichiganrowing.club.
Two Learn to Rows scheduled for Saturday, June 17th and Sunday June 24th. If you are interested in a Learn to Row, you may register in iCrew at this link.
New Quad Rigging and Shakedown - Calling all members who might not be tied up with end of school activities. We need to get the new quad cleaned up, rigged and tested out on the water. If you can be available to help at the Lake Leelanau location at 2 pm this Friday, please text Diane at 847-217-0675.
Glen Lake Rigging - Join us Sunday, May 28 from 8:30 to 11:30 am,
to car-top our small boats to the lake, rig them, and then row them to the Glen Lake Yacht Club. This is a great time to check out the club location and connect or reconnect with other members. We will meet at pole barn #B25, next to Dave’s Garage. 12777 S Benzonia Trail, Empire, MI 49630
If you have them, please bring tools, car rack, straps, pool noodles, and come dressed from a short row!
Welcome back Cox Aidan Lautner- We are so happy to have Aidan back for part of the summer. She is a 3rd year chem major at Xavier. She plans to go into dermatology and skincare.
Welcome to Coach Emma Ellis- She rowed at Lake Leelanau Rowing Club from 2018-2019, then switched to the Traverse City Tritons from 2019-2022. In 2021 her team won States in our 4+! She committed to Michigan State for rowing but unfortunately her past freshman year she was out because of a herniated disk. She will return to the team to row again in the fall. She has a passion for rowing and is looking forward to experiencing the sport in a new way (from the coaching perspective). Outside of rowing Emma loves to lift, read, hang out with friends, meet nice people, and drink good coffee.
June Rowing Schedule
We are excited to post our rowing schedule. We have a few Team Boats going out but all sessions are what we consider Open Rows. Members will need to toggle in as ‘attending’ in iCrew from the Session Calendar.
Important protocol: We ask that you only toggle in if you can commit to rowing no more than two weeks out. Please do not toggle outwithin 24 hours of your scheduled row. At Lake Leelanau location, If something comes up within that 24 hours, you will need to find yourself a sub to fill your seat to ensure the boat is able to go out. As members of a club, we all depend on each other to show up when scheduled. Emergencies do happen and in those rare instances, you may contact the location coordinator and inform them of the issue.
*Note- the location coordinators are currently Diane Hamilton at Glen Lake and Mindy Hawley and Susan O’Connor at Lake Leelanau. We are always looking for additional help in this regard so please let us know if you might be interested in taking on a location responsibility.
Sessions will be loaded into iCrew shortly.
