Happy Fall, NMRC!

We will absolutely have a few more colorful rows this season, so toggle into open rows that fit your fall schedule! Fall can be such a beautiful time to row in Northern Michigan.  The leaves have started changing, the air is crisp, and you can have the lake all to yourself.

If you hadn’t already heard, 20 members of NMRC won gold in 7 of 9 races at the Henley on the Boardman on September 9 and brought home a silver and two bronzes as well. There was a rumor that the NMRC 8-person Resolute was fast, but we know our season full of excellent practice and hard work earned us those gold medals!   There were 5 rowing clubs in attendance and 61 participants. TACR ran an excellent regatta! Everyone had a blast, and we had perfect weather and water!  Check out this week’s edition of the Leelanau Enterprise highlighting the regatta.

New boats and a set of sweep oars have arrived!

Thank you to the small crew of volunteers on Sept. 17 who helped unload a midweight 8 and a heavyweight 8. These additions to our fleet were purchased from the Huron Rowing Club and will enable us to get more people on the water.  We look forward to putting those 8’s to good use next spring.

This Sunday, Oct. 1st, at 3 pm - De-Rigging Glen Arbor

Please toggle in on iCrew if you can help. Meet at the NMRC Glen Lake location. Ideally, we will have 11 rowers available to row shells a short distance. Please bring tools, straps, and a car with cross-bars for moving shells if you have one. Afterward, we will gather at Arts in Glen Arbor to toast the season with a burger and a cold beverage. All are welcome! Please toggle in.

October 7- Sleeping Bear Marathon
Thank you to those who have already signed up to volunteer for the Sleeping Bear Marathon. Your participation ensures a generous donation to NMRC! Details have been emailed to each volunteer, but if you have questions, please email Lindy@ lindykellogg@gmail.com

De-rigging at Solon has yet to be scheduled, but we are working on establishing a final date. Please stay tuned for that; we will need many hands to de-rig our rowing shells and put the oar house ‘to bed’ for the winter.

Welcome, TACR Rowers! Because TACR’s season ends in early October, we have invited them to join us at our Solon location to fill seats and extend their rowing season. This is a great way to support local rowing clubs, build community, and have fun!

Set of Sweep Oars Painted! Huge shout out to Dana for taking on the oar restoration project for our club. Dana has spent countless hours sanding (with help from a small crew), repainting, and designing our new NMRC oars in our club colors. They looks amazing; thank you, Dana!
